Graduate Student Fellowships
Deadline for proposals: June 1, 2008
Information session to be held May 1, 2008 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The UCI Newkirk Center for Science and Society supports graduate students from all departments through its fellowship program. Proposals should address the main focus of the center:
- promoting appropriate and effective uses of research in the natural and social sciences to enhance the quality of human life
- developing and sharing research knowledge with the public and policy makers so they can make informed decisions on vital policy issues on law, education, environment, health care, crime, and public infrastructure
Awards are up to $10,000 and can be used for tuition, fees, and/or research support. The 2008 Request for Proposal can be viewed here.

Faculty Seed Grants
Deadline for proposals: May 15, 2008
The UCI Newkirk Center for Science and Society has a program of seed funding for research that is relevant to its mission:
- promoting appropriate and effective uses of research in the natural and social sciences to enhance the quality of human life
- developing and sharing research knowledge with the public and policy makers so they can make informed decisions on vital policy issues on law, education, environment, health care, crime, and public infrastructure
The center typically funds 4 seed grants with amounts around $15,000. The 2008 Request for Proposal can be viewed here.
