“Less Guilty By Reason of Adolescence”

Forensic Science Series event featuring Laurence Steinberg, Ph.D.
Distinguished Professor of Psychology
Temple University

Professor Steinberg, Distinguished University Professor at Temple University, is an internationally recognized expert on psychological development during adolescence. He is the author or co-author of more than 250 scholarly articles and 10 books, including Rethinking Juvenile Justice (with Elizabeth Scott), which will be published by Harvard University Press this fall. A frequent consultant to government agencies and lawmakers on juvenile justice policy, Dr. Steinberg served as a member of the National Academy of Science’s Committee on the Science of Adolescent Health and Behavior, and is currently a member of the National Academies’ Board on Children, Youth, and Families. He was the lead scientist on the amicus curiae brief filed by the American Psychological Association in Roper v. Simmons, the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that abolished the juvenile death penalty.
